I should totally be smart and plan out stuff like Pride's doing but I'm just messing around as I go. Once I get more comfortable drawing Ai I think this will go smoother. After signing up on the board here I started working on a 3/4th view sprite. (I also wanted to try drawing the crazy space suit c: ) Needs some tweaking. I have a bad habit of making her arms really twiggy... I also feel her weight distribution is awkward, so I'll be changing her legs soon. Arm idea sketches and legs I already like better than what I already had done. Whew I'm going to have to get used to this eye coloring style. I'm having trouble getting them to focus the direction I want them to.

So far so good, but my one complaint is that she looks kind of... flat, like someone squished her and then turned her 45 degrees. Do you think you could try maybe doing something about that, as well as making the lines a tad thinner?
If it's too much trouble for you to do a 3/4 view, you could just try a full-on front view, because funnily enough the original sprite Ari drew for her was in a front view, but try your best, okay? Fight-o!

No no... It's not too much trouble. I'll work on it. How is this for line thickness?

That's much better! Do you think you could try for a little line variation, like you had in your initial sprites, or was that already on the way?

Oh yes, there will be line variation, that was just a test. c: Also, does this look any better body wise? I am pretty rusty with 3/4th view. u-u; I've really just recently gotten out of a several year long art slump, so I'm sorry if any complications show up at the beginning because of that. I will work my hardest to overcome this! (this is still with the old line width I'm just messing around to see if this start is salvageable.)

That's so much better, thanks! And good luck!

Um okay I'm posting this pretty early because I've got somewhere to be for a good chunk of the day. This is the new body with flat colors. If anything needs tweeking please tell me. This is the relaxed or neutral pose, as well. Just working on expressions, really... This is Neutral, Small Smile, Happy, Laughing, and Angry. Okay, now I thought it might look good to have Ai look away completely with some emotions, but I realized I didn't actually know what you all want profiles to look like... I made this set anyway to kind of show what I mean. I'm just not sure if it goes with the way everything else is styled. Is there a specific way you want profiles to look? I can easily change it at this point. So um... yeah, that's my progress report for this week.

So far, my main issue is with the regular (non-profile) sprites. DO you think you could make the nose more... thin, I guess? Less wide and flat? I don't know if I'm being clear enough, but what I'm looking for is something less "cartoony," if you catch my drift.
Also, I do think the profile sprites are a good idea, but if you're going to go with them, I'm going to have to ask you to make the outline of her face a little less "curvy" -- her nose should be sharper, and her lips should be less pronounced. Additionally, her head looks kind of squished, so if you made her head just a tad (like, a millimeter or two) "longer" in the profile shots, I think we'd be good to go.
It really does kill me to say this, because I know you're trying your best, but we do have to maintain a certain level of stylistic consistency. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me via PM or via ask on tumblr.

Don't worry about it, that's exactly what I needed to know.

Also, I don't know how I didn't notice this, but does she have only four fingers (three excluding the thumb) on each hand? I don't know if this was intentional or not, but obviously that's gonna have to change.
On that note, do you think you could make her wrists a tad thicker and her fingers a bit more... I don't know what the word I'm looking for is, but her fingers look like she's trying to grasp something, and they should look more neutral and relaxed. Do you think you could work with that?
