At the request of Neebles, I thought it would be a good idea to make this topic to define and name plot-significant terms and characters as a reference for writers to more easily/consistently describe things.
Hoshi: The government space exploratory agency founded by Hiroaki, ostensibly for the purpose of expanding mankind's frontier into space through research and expeditions. While most of the members are ordinary scientists and workers assigned there by the government, the core members are all young girls handpicked by Hiroaki (because people are statistically more likely to trust girls and let their guards down around them as opposed to men) to do all the most important missions. As revealed in Tsukiko's route, however, Hoshi is nothing but a front for Hiroaki to pursue his lifelong dream of finding his sister among the stars, even though he knows deep in his heart that his dream will never come true.
The Nagareboshi: A truly massive spacecraft, Hoshi's pride and joy. Built with state-of-the-art technology, it spans 1092 feet in length and 274 in width at its widest point and is equipped with multiple ion thrusters, as well as a single massive hyperspace drive at its core. It is designed to function as a small city for its inhabitants during long voyages to other planets and star systems, and features pretty much everything you'd find in a cruise ship -- pools, gyms, tracks, lounge areas, a movie theater, and numerous recreational rooms (with games such as pool/billiards, ping pong, etc).
Kotone Abe: Hiroaki's late younger sister. Ten years before the start of the story, Kotone passed away after an ongoing battle with cancer. Hiroaki loved her more than life itself, and her death was the impetus for him to construct Tsukiko, a process which took him all of three years to complete. When she was completed, Hiroaki quickly caught the eye of the government, who enlisted him to help with their budding space program. Hiroaki had planned for all of this, of course, and used the government funding and steady supply of recruits to further his own selfish goals.
Daichi and Rin Okada: Ai's horribly abusive parents. From birth, they never much cared for their daughter, only doing the bare minimum to feed and care for her. They never gave her a name; they hastily scribbled something down on the paperwork and forgot about it, only calling Ai "you" or "kid" her entire life. They would often make Ai go and buy things from the store nearby, sometimes in pouring rain or freezing snow, and when they didn't have money, they'd make her steal -- and needless to say, they never sent her to school. Fed up with her parents and their abuse, one day, when Ai was nine, she packed all she could into a tiny backpack and ran away from home. Her parents never even bothered looking for her, and eventually when she was found by the police, she was held in their care while the police tracked down and arrested her parents. This is where she got her teddy bear whose name she took as her own. Afterwards, she was placed into a government-run orphanage, where Hiroaki scouted her out.
After a few years and countless trials, Ai's parents were released from prison, but their lifestyle hasn't changed. Both of them are now either alcoholic, drug-addicted, or both.
Jirou and Sakurako Mori: Fumiko's parents, both of whom are widely-recognized government-affiliated scientists who were selected for Hoshi during its early stages. Recognizing their daughter's unsurpassed genius and potential for learning, they enrolled her in a government scientific academy at a very early age, where she studied with children and teenagers many times her age, easily leaving them all in the dust -- however, because of this, Fumiko was never truly able to form any social interactions. Her entry into Hoshi came a few years before the start of the story, when she was scheduled to give a lecture at Tokyo University, but promptly broke out into tears out of nervousness from seeing the thousands of people seated before her. With such a stain on her career, her parents wanted nothing to do with her, and she was later picked up by Hiroaki so she could carry out her research in an environment far away from the public eye.
The Aliens: The aliens encountered by the members of Hoshi towards the end of the story are of a race similar to Momoka's, possessing humanoid forms with stern faces, dark skin, and long ears -- the key difference is that all of them, upon maturity, gain golden irises, a sign of their immense telepathic abilities, which extend far beyond those of Momoka and include both sending and receiving thoughts. They turn on the members of Hoshi due to "overhearing" Hiroaki's plans to take one of them back to Earth as a research specimen.
