I doubt any of you are aware of this, but I recently asked both fuckyeahvisualnovels and fuckyeahvns on Tumblr to advertise for us, and they were more than happy to get the word out, especially that we're looking for a BG artist. Since my goal for the next meeting (well, one of them) is to recruit a BG artist (and hopefully a full complement of staff) by Saturday, this is really excellent for us.
If any of you have any friends on Tumblr with a fairly large following, don't hesitate to ask them to spread the word if you feel they'd be willing to do so. We need all the publicity we can get, and the more people know about us, the more we'll be able to spread news and updates about Dream of Stars, so try to spread the word as best you can!

A kickstarter is also an option. What do you guys think about potential ideas for kickstarter rewards, and how could we use the revenue?
Also, if we do decide on a kicksterter, would there be someone willing to make a sort of showcase video? I could record a short speech talking about the premise behind DoS, and someone could edit that together with promotional images and text/effects to create a nice promotional video? Of course, we'd go in-depth in the description, but a catchy video is always nice.

I think a kickstarter would be a good idea. Funds could go either to translating the game to other languages or helping it get out onto XBL, PSN, and Steam. As for rewards we could do wallpapers, cards, prints, maybe a reward to beta test the game itself?? Or even allow OCs to have a guest appearance in the VN as a background character or such during the shopping section of the game?
Anyways I think a kickstarter would be great!

Unfortunately, after talking with nonopi (our programmer), I discovered that getting it onto PSN and XBLA would be nigh impossible due to the difference in programming language. We'd have to do some serious work to get it in the right format, and even then it would still be unfeasible, as the Sony and Microsoft execs are just plain stupid and probably wouldn't take well to the idea anyway. Steam is another possibility, true, but we'd still have to tweak the game significantly to get it to work.
Translations, on the other hand, would be a wonderful idea! Putting out a game that could overcome the language barrier and reach an audience all over the world would be an absolutely wonderful outcome!
As for the rest, I think that all of those would be excellent ideas. We'd need to decide on reward tiers, and obviously the OC-as-background-character would be on the highest tier, but let's see how interest levels grow and then consider our possibilities from there.

I think a mini art/promo book would be a cool kickstarter reward.

I think a mini art/promo book would be a cool kickstarter reward. I like that idea! I'll make a post in the General Art board to discuss it with the rest of the artists.
